Newsletter #155 - This Tiny Setup Detail Could Transform Your Driving

Here's a tiny driver setup detail that could be affecting where you strike the ball on the face.

And the interesting thing is, you might not even know you're doing it.

When you address the ball with your driver, do you rest the club on the ground? ✅

Or do you hover it behind the ball? ✅

It might seem like personal preference, but it actually changes where the clubhead might meet the ball at impact, and as we all know, strike is king!

Basically, this subtle but serious difference might require a change in terms of where you need to line the ball up on the face.

Let me explain…

Here's what I was missing…

For years, I would have told you that I was someone who started with the driver resting on the ground.

Then I started filming my swing. A LOT. 😂

And I discovered that wasn't actually what I was doing.

Just before starting my backswing, I was subtly lifting the club from the ground.

I was a hoverer without knowing I was a hoverer.

That tiny movement matters because lifting the driver changes its position relative to the ball.

So if you're lining everything up perfectly at address, but then moving the club before you swing...

Your "perfect" setup might not be so perfect by the time you actually hit it.

Try for yourself…

Next time you're practising, put your phone down beside the ball and film your driver setup in slow motion.

Don't change anything about your normal routine.

Just hit a drive and watch what happens immediately before the club moves away.

Does it stay grounded? ✅

Do you lift it slightly? ✅
