Newsletter #153 - This Driver Shot Makes No Sense...Until You Try It

What if you could take speed OFF your driver swing, and still hit the ball almost as far?

Sounds backwards, but in the right conditions it's an incredibly useful shot to have.

Let the conditions do the work…

When the course is firm and running fast, or you're playing into the wind, launching driver high into the air isn't always the best way to maximise distance.

A lower, more penetrating ball flight can use the ground to do the work for you.

That's where the knockdown driver comes in.

It's a shot you've probably seen Tiger use over the years, and it's one I've been using much more recently.

With considerably less clubhead speed, I'm seeing this shot finish surprisingly close to my full driver once the ball hits the ground and starts running. The goal isn't perfection...

It's simply creating enough space for the club to do its job.

Let me explain…

Something close to my heart…

What I would consider my home club (where I grew up learning the game of golf) is in the process of raising funds for a cancer charity that is close to my heart, and that of some of the members who helped me on my way in the world of golf.

If there is anything you can contribute to the cause, no matter how big or small, please use the QR code below.

No pressure, no expectations, just some charitable outreach on my part if this is something you can get behind…

I hope you enjoyed this issue and it helps your game!

Please reply to this email with requests for future topics you would like me to cover.

Have a great weekend!
