One Of The WORST Bits Of Golf Coaching That Keeps Doing The Rounds...
It’s one of those terrible coaching cliches which seems to just stick for some reason.
The “one-piece takeaway” might sound neat and tidy, but it’s one of those ideas that’s done way more harm than good.
Let me explain why…
The “Few Pieces Takeaway” Isn’t Very Catchy, but it’s what actually works!
Here’s the problem: golfers hear “one piece” and start moving everything together (chest, arms, club) as one stiff unit. No separation, no flow. You end up locked up, with nowhere to go, and that’s when the funky moves start sneaking in. Takeaways WAY on the outside, or those that swing inside and behind your body.
We don’t want that!
Golfers love simplicity, and I get that, and in lots of areas of the game there’s plenty of room for it; but not simply for the sake of catchy cliches.

Stats like the ones in this newsletter help us manage our expectations on the golf course, learn the EXACT areas our games need to improve in, and basically stop lying to ourselves.
The best way to track your own stats? I would recommend Arccos Golf to anyone looking to level up their golf game. I mean, you can get better without even having to change your swing, but hopefully I can help you with that too!

Why This Week’s Drill Works:
Promotes correct sequencing: arms and body work together, but not locked.
Encourages natural arm fold and wrist structure seen in tour-level swings.
Improves takeaway direction: prevents the club from getting trapped inside.
Builds better positions early, leading to a more efficient backswing.
Results You’ll Notice:
Smoother, more athletic takeaway.
Club stays on plane more easily.
Consistent ball-striking and contact.
Less tendency to “get stuck” or roll the face open early.
Better rhythm starting the swing.
I hope you enjoyed this issue and it helps your game!
