The Backswing Secret That Simplifies PURE Iron Strikes
Welcome to part two of building better iron strikes. In part one, we sorted the setup, all designed to make it easier for your body to move across towards target on the downswing.
Now we need to build the movement that makes that happen. And it starts earlier than most golfers think.…
The mistake most golfers make:
A lot of players:
Shift away from the target
Stay there too long
And then try to rush everything back at the last second
That’s where fat and thin strikes come from. The key isn’t trying to “get across” late.
It’s learning how to turn the corner earlier in the backswing.
Before we get into that though, this is how I’m getting longer day by day, even as I head into my 50s….
The backswing pattern we want:
What we’re working towards is a backswing where:
You move slightly onto the trail foot early ✅
Then, as you turn, you start moving back towards target ✅
So by the top, you’re already setting up the downswing ✅
Good strikers don’t hang back.
They’re already preparing to move forward before the club even finishes going back.
