The Downswing Move That Will Finally Fix Your Iron Strike...

Newsletter #127: How To Strike Your Irons PURE Episode 3 (Final Part!):

Welcome to part three of building better, purer iron strikes. If you’ve worked through the last couple of weeks…

  • Your setup is helping you

  • Your backswing is turning the corner properly

Now we add the final piece

What we’re trying to achieve:

To strike irons well, you need your body moving across towards target as you come down.

Not hanging back ❌
Not spinning out ❌
Actually moving forward ✅

When I measure this, good ball strikers are getting two to three inches of movement across with the upper body before things start rotating and pushing up.

That movement is what shifts the strike forward of the ball.

The simple downswing move:

Instead of trying to “fire the hips” or force anything from the top, I want you to think about something much easier.

From the top of the backswing:

  • You can just see your lead foot over your lead shoulder

  • On the way down, your job is simple:
cover your lead foot with your lead shoulder

That’s it.

That one move creates the shift we’re looking for.
