The Pre Shot Checks Your Are Getting WRONG...
One of the biggest scoring mistakes amateur golfers make has nothing to do with their swing.
It's failing to read their lie.
SCENARIO: A ball that's only a yard off the fairway might look like a straightforward approach shot, but a small amount of rough, the direction the grass is growing and even a little morning moisture can completely change how the ball reacts.
Less spin ✅
More release ✅
Effectively a TOTALLY different yardage ✅
The best golfers don't just play the number on the rangefinder—they play the shot the lie allows them to hit.
Let me explain…
Next time you're just off the fairway, ask yourself:
✔ How much grass is actually between the ball and the clubface?
✔ Which way is the grass growing?
✔ Is there any moisture or dew that could reduce spin?
✔ Will this lie make the ball fly further or shorter than my stock yardage?
✔ Will the ball roll more than usual when it does land?
✔ Where's the safest place to miss if it doesn't react as expected?
The more you ask these questions before you pull a club, the better your decisions become.

Something close to my heart…
What I would consider my home club (where I grew up learning the game of golf) is in the process of raising funds for a cancer charity that is close to my heart, and that of some of the members who helped me on my way in the world of golf.
If there is anything you can contribute to the cause, no matter how big or small, please use the QR code below.
No pressure, no expectations, just some charitable outreach on my part if this is something you can get behind…
I hope you enjoyed this issue and it helps your game!
Please reply to this email with requests for future topics you would like me to cover.
Have a great weekend!
