The Power Move Most Golfers Miss

Newsletter #139: Driver Set Up Secrets for More Distance - Episode 3 (McIlroy’s Secret Move)

Welcome to the FINAL PART of maximising your driver through setup.

If you haven’t watched parts one and two yet, go back and check them out here:

All three power secrets we have discussed in this series work independently of one another, but when you link them together, BOOM…that’s where the real gains come!

And let’s be honest…

Who doesn’t want more distance? Speaking of more distance, this 👇👇👇 is how I have completely changed the way I play golf…

A quick recap…

So far we’ve built:

  • A wider stance for stability and bigger turns ✅

  • More movement and pre-load for speed ✅

Now we add the final piece: Stretch!

Why stretch matters…

When you look at the longest hitters in the game (someone like Rory McIlroy for example) one thing stands out when you measure it:

They create huge amounts of stretch in the backswing.

  • More than almost all amateurs.

  • Even more than most top pros.

That stretch is what helps:

  • Store energy 💥

  • Create speed 💥

  • And deliver the club from a better position 🎯

But here’s the problem…

Most golfers can’t create that stretch because their arm structure is wrong. Let me explain…

Why this works…

If you’ve watched the video and done some practice, now you can:

✔ Create proper stretch in the backswing
✔ Keep the club on a better path
✔ And set up a much easier downswing

The trail arm move we’ve discussed in the video is doing a lot of the “heavy lifting” for you.

When it’s right, everything else becomes easier.

Something close to my heart…

What I would consider my home club (where I grew up learning the game of golf) is in the process of raising funds for a cancer charity that is close to my heart, and that of some of the members who helped me on my way in the world of golf.

If there is anything you can contribute to the cause, no matter how big or small, please use the QR code below.

No pressure, no expectations, just some charitable outreach on my part if this is something you can get behind…

I hope you enjoyed this issue and it helps your game!

Please reply to this email with requests for future topics you would like me to cover.

Have a great Easter weekend!
