Newsletter #142: How To Hit Your Fairway Woods from The Deck (Final Part)

Welcome to the final part of how to hit better fairway woods from the deck.

If you missed the first two parts:

Go back and watch them, because today we’re finishing this off with the downswing and follow-through.

And this is where lots of golfers lose it…

The biggest mistake…

Most players know they need:

  • Speed ✅

  • Commitment ✅

  • Power ✅

But then they try to create it the wrong way.

What I see all the time is golfers trying to absolutely “go for it” from the top, and immediately throwing:

  • The shoulders ❌

  • The hands ❌

  • And all the angles ❌

Everything gets heaved over the top, and that’s where we get the common poor fairway wood shots including:

  • Tops

  • Heavy strikes

  • Low weak flights

  • And horrible contact

Let’s fix all that now…

The KEY takeaways…

On the downswing, I want you to feel:

  • Shift across first ✅

  • Then let the trail shoulder stay lower for longer ✅

  • THEN rotate through ✅

That lower trail shoulder is a brilliant feel for helping:

  • The club drop onto a better path

  • Improve strike

  • And launch the ball properly

Something close to my heart…

What I would consider my home club (where I grew up learning the game of golf) is in the process of raising funds for a cancer charity that is close to my heart, and that of some of the members who helped me on my way in the world of golf.

If there is anything you can contribute to the cause, no matter how big or small, please use the QR code below.

No pressure, no expectations, just some charitable outreach on my part if this is something you can get behind…

I hope you enjoyed this issue and it helps your game!

Please reply to this email with requests for future topics you would like me to cover.

Have a great Easter weekend!
